Melainie Vinton

Melainie is one of our most senior solicitors and is based in the Frankston office. She comes with a wealth of knowledge having been admitted as a lawyer in 2007 and working solely as a passionate defence lawyer since that time.

Melainie has worked as an employee solicitor in private practice, at Victoria Legal Aid, and as a partner in a reputable criminal law defence firm. James Dowsley & Associates have been fortunate enough to have Melainie on board since 2018.

Melainie’s practice is in both summary and indictable crime, mostly focusing on complex indictable crime. She appears regularly in all courts in Victoria and has a speciality in preparing and instructing in Supreme Court matters including terrorism offences. 

Melainie is a skilled and passionate advocate who will leave no stone unturned in defence of her clients and to ensure the rights of an accused person are upheld at all times. She is an excellent communicator and advocate and exceptionally well regarded by colleagues, clients and the profession.
