Bridie joined James Dowsley & Associates in 2014.

Bridie is a Senior Associate and was in 2022 recognised by the Doyle’s Guide in the ‘Rising Star’ category in relation to criminal lawyer solicitors in Victoria. 

Bridie commenced as a law student,  graduating to become a paralegal at our Dandenong office in 2016 and joining our team of lawyers in 2017.

Bridie is a passionate advocate for social justice and is highly diligent and meticulous in her conduct. Having previously studied psychology and history, Bridie places great importance on thoroughly understanding her clients’ background and circumstances, to ensure the best possible outcome is reached.

Bridie regularly appears for clients facing a range of summary and indictable criminal matters in the Magistrates’ Court and County Court. She has significant experience and a particular interest in Children’s Court proceedings. She also instructs counsel and assists in the preparation and running of complex indictable criminal cases in the County Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court. Those cases include a wide range of offences including drug importation, sexual offences, fraud related offences and homicides. 

Bridie was the solicitor with carriage in relation to the matter of Buckley v The Queen [2022] VSCA 138 which related to, inter alia, the impact of Victoria’s mandatory sentencing regime on young offenders.
